Limestone College Library Home Page

It is the wish of the Eastwood Library to provide all members of the Limestone College community, regardless of where and how classes are taken, with the library services needed.  There is a vast amount of information available throughout the library's web site. We invite you to use our web resources:

Library Information: Mission statement, map of the library, library hours, phone numbers, staff, email addresses as well as policies regarding interlibrary loans, copiers and printers, laminating machines, circulation, charges & fines, and AV equipment.

K.A.T.E.: The online catalog of Limestone's books and periodicals, searches can be done by author, title, subject, series (or combinations) and call numbers. The top blue tool box connects to the reserve desk, information desk and user services.

Electronic Resources: A variety of databases available to the Limestone community consisting of: encyclopedias, periodical databases with lots of full-text, ready reference material, and links to general reference information. Because of licensing agreements some of the databases are restricted to current members of the Limestone community.  Follow the instructions on the Electronic Resources page for remote access.

Loan Request: A form to fill out when requesting material from the college or other libraries. Note those taking classes in Gaffney will need to pick up the material at the college library.  For those taking classes off-campus material will be sent to their home address.  Books need to be returned before the due date stamped in the book.  Fees from other libraries or for photocopying will be passed on.

Other libraries: Links to South Carolina libraries, archives and museums, the Library of Congress, libraries of the world, and the National Library Catalogues World Wide. Some library catalogs that require Telnet software. Of particular interest may be the links to the State Library and libraries near you.

Questions and Comments: An email link provided to anyone to use to contact the library about anything.  Questions will be responded to within 24 hours, excluding weekends and holidays.

User services: A map of the library illustrating where collections are located.

Archives: A brief description of the archives located in the ground floor.

ADDITIONAL  SERVICES:

Reference questions-In addition to email, reference questions may be made by calling the toll-free number (1-800-795-7151 ext.611) or using the fax number (864 488-4613).The library will respond to reference questions in a similar manner unless asked otherwise.

Patron records-Library patrons can view their own library record.  The record indicates when books are due and fines owed.  There should be no surprises at the end of the semester. An account is activated once material has been checked out or requested.  To review an account go to the "user services" button in the online catalog system. Enter the Pin number "changeme" to access your account.  Pin numbers should be changed for added security.

Collection development-Students may request material for the library collection. Suggestions will be considered. Factors in the decision process include cost and appropriateness.

Interlibrary Loan-When the Eastwood Library does not have a book, article or other document needed by the Limestone Student, faculty or staff, the library will try to obtain a copy through Interlibrary Loan. Costs of ILL materials are passed on the student.  (To expedite retrieving desired information students may wish to make interlibrary loans through their local public library.)  It is important to provide as much bibliographic information as possible and, if known, the location where the material may be obtained.

Bibliographic Instruction --Bibliographic Instruction is offered to students through a series of tutorials in addition to faculty-requested sessions.  Students are always welcome to contact the library staff for one-on-one help.  Information to some anticipated questions is found on the Electronic Resources web page under "General Research Links."

Statewide Borrowing Agreement-Colleges in South Carolina have agreed, in principle, to allow students from other South Carolina colleges borrow from their libraries. A special borrowing card will be issued for the course term. The Statewide Borrowing Card and a Limestone College ID are required. To obtain a borrowing card email the library at library@limestone.edu with your name, student ID number, and colleges to be used.

Other Libraries: Time and distance makes the use of other libraries appealing.  Local libraries can provide the remote learner with an atmosphere conducive to studying, reference material (both paper and online), and Internet access.  It is strongly recommended that off-campus students obtain library cards to an academic library near them.  Check the Gaslight Student Handbook for information on libraries near you. If a community borrowing card is purchased , send in the receipt to the AJ Eastwood Library, Limestone College, 1115 College Drive, Gaffney, SC, 29340, for reimbursement (maximum of $25 per year).
